Question about printing an original lithograph, dated 1814th Can anyone help?

It shows an action between the French 32 frigate Supervisor "Britsh and the 32-gun frigate HMS Quebec, near Ushant, Brittany, during the War of Independence. Print Date: measures set out in 1783. There were 3 fights in this area. 1778-1781 and 1794. No part of these two vessels. According to other sources, this exchange was 1779th Why do the original artists, at this point so badly? Sorry long term is a question.

There could be hundreds of possible reasons, a printer error, the artist's work, the artist in May belongs to a battle of several years, the last of a sailor to yet, just the wrong date, after all, the majority of uneducated people who could not read and Wright, or was artistic freedom. They are there are some reasons of the above in my head after all, people make mistakes.

Vanishing Point [Original Soundtrack] $14.98 The 1971 movie Vanishing Point managed to become a cult hit, with its story of a Benzedrine-popping driver (Barry Newman) in a race for his life with the police of several states, but somehow the soundtrack managed to remain out-of-print until 2004, when Soundtrack Classics reissued it on CD. The music is surprisingly cohesive, primarily built around different aspects of country-rock as embodied variously by Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, the Doug Dillard Expedition, and Jerry Reed, with some gospel tracks by Segarini & Bishop and Big Mama Thornton, plus Mountain's "Mississippi Queen." The music is all eminently listenable and then some, and has an earthiness that makes it more than a little bracing -- only the lyrical, string-dominated love theme, provided by Jimmy Bowen and his orchestra, breaks that mood and even it works within its own musical context, and is explainable given the time in which the movie was made. Giant [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] $11.18 Dimitri Tiomkin's music for George Stevens' epic film about rival Texas cattle and oil barons is one of the better scores of his entire career, and Giant was one of the first really good sounding soundtrack albums, with big, booming acoustics that make the title theme, in particular, seem almost bigger than the 210-minute movie. The huge, sprawling "Main Title" theme, with its rousing mixed chorus and a memorable melodic arc, was so popular that the Texas legislature later adopted it as the state's anthem. The same thematic material reappears throughout the score in various forms, depicting various characters and elements of the action. For example, "Jett Rink Theme" accompanies Rink's (portrayed by James Dean) aimless search for a place for himself on the Reata ranch and his discovery of oil on Little Reata; it is one of the finest pieces of music that Tiomkin ever composed. Out of context, some of the effect music included here doesn't work as well, but every part of this original score is worth hearing and owning -- and that goes double for fans of the movie. With the planned re-release of the movie by Warner Home Video on DVD, one can only hope that Capitol (which got the soundtrack because Warner Bros. didn't have a record label at the time) will reissue the soundtrack. After the Ball (Original London Cast) $12.98 The idea of having Noël Coward adapt Oscar Wilde's play Lady Windermere's Fan into a musical seems sound, but as often happens, the resulting show, After the Ball, suffered from problems on its way to the stage that prevented it from being what it might have been. In particular, casting was a problem, as Mary Ellis proved unequal to the vocal demands Coward made in the pivotal role of Mrs. Erlynne, resulting in the elimination of some songs. Along with other difficulties, the result was an indifferent critical and popular response, and the show ran only 188 performances after it opened in London on June 10, 1954. Nevertheless, Philips Records gave it a full cast recording on the only recently conventional 12" LP format, including 16 tracks with a running time of nearly 49 minutes. That, however, still wasn't enough to encompass the entire score, and there was another challenge. Shamus Locke, playing the part of Lord Darlington, was contracted to another label and unavailable to appear on the cast album. His songs, the solo "Stay on the Side of the Angels" and "I Offer You My Heart?," a duet with Vanessa Lee in the role of Lady Windermere, simply were eliminated. So were three other songs, leaving only 14. ("Quartette" is just a reprise of "Oh, What a Century It's Been," and "London at Night" also has a reprise.) The cut songs tend to be ones that advanced the plot, leaving plenty of choral numbers filled with Coward's characteristic wit and some love songs sung by Lee and Ellis. It's still an excellent score, even in this incomplete form, and the troubles of the stage production do not intrude. After half a century had passed and the recording had fallen out of copyright, Sepia Records undertook this unlicensed reissue of the long out of print album, spiffing up the sound and adding as bonus tracks eight songs from earlier Coward shows and/or featuring performers from After the Ball. Proof [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] $17.98 The winning combination of John Madden, composer Stephen Warbeck, and Gwyneth Paltrow -- they struck Oscar gold in 1998 with Shakespeare in Love -- reunite for the psychological drama Proof. Warbeck, an ace comedy composer, has constructed a score that's as warm as it is wistful and as lush as it is brooding. The main cue is a taut midtempo exercise in Philip Glass minimalism that utilizes a repetitive Bill Frisell-style guitar line wrapped in layers of dramatic strings. It's far more refreshing than it sounds in print, and Warbeck never lets things go on too long. A Family Affair [Original Broadway Cast] $13.98 Described by theater historian Gerald Bordman as "essentially...an extended Jewish joke" about the complications leading up to a wedding, the 1962 musical flop A Family Affair marked the Broadway debuts (at least, in these jobs) of composer and co-lyricist John Kander, co-lyricist James Goldman, librettist William Goldman, director Harold Prince, and choreographer John Butler. Standup comedian Shelley Berman, one of the two above-the-title stars, had appeared in one previous musical flop and never did so again; the other, Eileen Heckart, was a straight actress appearing in her only musical. Both managed to hold their own as singers. Juvenile lead Larry Kert had previously appeared in West Side Story. Linda Lavin, a minor cast member who can be heard, just barely, in one of her parts as Fifi the Dressmaker in the song "Harmony," went on to a more substantial Broadway career. So, of course, did Kander (in his long-running partnership with lyricist Fred Ebb), James Goldman, and Prince, while William Goldman became a successful screenwriter. It is those names that make the cast recording of A Family Affair of interest to show music fans. The score is, not surprisingly, mediocre. Kander clearly had not found his individual identity yet, although he showed talent writing in a variety of styles that included a march, a Hawaiian song, and even a bolero. The album quickly went out of print after being released by United Artists Records. Hellboy [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] $17.98 Guillermo del Toro has once again tapped Marco Beltrami, this time to score his film adaptation of Hellboy. The director and composer had already collaborated on both Mimic and Blade II, with Beltrami conjuring music that immersed itself in the mood of each film, instead of simply grafting on orchestral boilerplate. For Hellboy, Beltrami seems to understand that he's scoring not just del Toro's film, but the collective conceptions of a thriving comic book cult. It's movie music, certainly; "Evil Doers" is appropriately plodding and gloomy, while strings shimmer mournfully in the margins of "Father's Funeral" and "Mechanical Mausoleum" is a chaotic whir of crashing percussion, hysterical violins, and brass that warns of impending danger. But Beltrami has also found a way to access and accentuate the ingenious mixture of slightly creepy horror, thrilling action, offbeat humor, and warm human emotion that typifies Hellboy in both film and print. The main title stalks along at the stark pace of a '70s cop show, but soon swells into something much more epic and foreboding -- it's a deft mixture of brassy action movie music and tingling drama. "Snow Walkers" carries that hint of danger through before the theme for "Liz Sherman" drifts into frame, guided by violins softer than the nape of a woman's neck. There's foreshadowing here, too -- the horns take over to suggest the danger of Liz's world. "Rooftop Tango" might be even better, inserting a bit of that dance's lighthearted lilt into the often doom-laden proceedings. Beltrami deserves credit too for shying away from synthesizers, which burbled under the surface of his work for Blade II. The programming and chilly beats worked for that film's explosive landscape of munitions, blood, and PVC. But Hellboy is much better served by the traditional tools of a symphony orchestra and choir, augmented cleverly with harp, Theremin, and, on mid-album standout "Kroenen's Lied," stirring vocal soloists. Battle of Britain [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] $15.98 The 1999 reissue of this soundtrack is one of the most exciting finds in the realm of film music in decades, but to understand exactly why, one must realize that the original soundtrack to the movie Battle of Britain was one of the most controversial movie scores of the 1960s. Sir William Walton, who had previously written the music for the film First of the Few (aka Spitfire), not to mention Sir Laurence Olivier's three major Shakespearean films, wrote a score for Battle of Britain only to have it dropped by the film's producers. At the time, United Artists Records, the music division of the movie's distributor, was having particular luck with orchestral pop-type releases, such as John Barry's James Bond scores, and Walton wrote a complex, serious music score that sounded like it came from the concert hall. The producers replaced his music with a much simpler, more conventional movie score, authored by Ron Goodwin and built around various brass-heavy march tunes, interspersed with a romantic theme or two. Then Olivier, who (with Michael Caine, was the star of the epic film, threatened to have his name taken off the credits of the movie over the snub of his composer friend's music. A compromise was worked out, wherein Walton's scoring for the climactic "Battle in the Air" was kept in the movie; mostly, it was the presence of the five-minute "Battle in the Air" theme that kept the Battle of Britain soundtrack in print (the movie was a notorious failure) for years. The 1999 Rykodisc reissue utilized surviving tapes of Walton's original music (conducted by Malcolm Arnold) to recreate his original score. The Walton "Battle in the Air" stood apart from Goodwin's relentless march themes in no uncertain terms, surging up gradually, through the lower strings, the reeds, and winds, with the brass adding punctuation while the violins play running scales. The recovered Walton score is no less impressive as orchestral writing -- his original main title theme is very similar to his music for Olivier's Richard III, while much of the rest of his writing involves some fairly complex music, sometimes with sophisticated development, with "Battle in the Air" now assembled from superior alternate takes, as the highlight. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
