If Leonardo da Vinci was a design for a weapon of Mach and no firearms at how this plan is it?
I wonder how could - to design and there were no firearms at the time. just seems strange! Someone can steal your design and the real thing?
Da Vinci was a visionary, what we would call in his mind, saw things that we do not dream, even off. Did you he also invented the parachute and aircraft construction, if these things are not invented yet.He saw things in the future that we are not.

Leonardo $3.48 A true genius whose talents embraced painting, engineering, anatomy, and flight, Leonardo da Vinci was--and remains--an extraordinary human being, indeed one of the most intriguing figures in world history, as the recent success of The Da Vinci Code attests. Now, in this new biography, Martin Kemp explores the essential nature of this forever fascinating artist-engineer, both as an individual and as a historical phenomenon. How can we best understand Leonardo? How did his mind work--was he prolific but scattered in his thinking, or is there a method in what often seems to be his madness? Was he basically an artist who also pursued science and technology, or was "science"--his understanding of the physical world--central to his artistic vision? In Leonardo, Martin Kemp offers a vivid portrait of the Renaissance giant that answers these questions and more. The book takes us on an absorbing journey through the life and work of Leonardo, looking first at the historical man, portraying an impressive and cultivated figure, an artist who in truth completed few paintings, rarely satisfied a commission, and yet lived in style and ended his career with a massive salary. More important, the author examines the ideas underlying Leonardo's investigations of nature, illuminating his vision of the artist-engineer as matching nature itself in his creativity. Kemp argues that Leonardo's apparent diversities reveal a desire to find an inner unity in the functioning of everything in the observable world. For Leonardo, writes Kemp, every act of looking and drawing was an act of analysis, and he used these analyses to re-make and re-interpret his surroundings. In a final chapter, Kemp also comments on the Da Vinci Code and "the continuing public appetite for Leonardo and his doings." Beautifully illustrated with a unique "thumbnail museum" that offers a tour of all Leonardo's paintings, plus 30 additional illustrations and life-size reproductions of pages from his famous notebooks, Leonardo is a powerful portrait of one of the towering geniuses of world history. |

The Davinci Code $3.48 Just where does fact end and fiction begin? The brilliant mix of fact and fiction in Dan Brown's Conspiracy story "The Da Vinci Code" raises serious questions regarding the origins and claims of Christianity. Many come away from the book shaken in their beliefs, wondering what is true? Questions like "Was Mary Magdalene really Jesus' wife and the mother of his child?" And more. McDowell skillfully separates facts from fallacy. This is a book you and your friends should have right now!One reviewer wrote "An excellent little book and very easy read. Written as an ongoing discussion among three college students who saw the DaVinci Code movie and then had many questions about the supposed "facts" in the book...only to discover that author Dan Brown is a brilliant author, but lousy historian who fabricates most of his "facts." An excellent little book that really makes you think and want to dig for the truth!" by Mr. Michael A. Dorough "uth dude" (Warner Robins, GA) |

Leonardo's Dream $13.48 From the creator of Lars, the little Polar Bear, comes another beguiling animal hero, Leonardo the penguin.Leonardo had a dream. he wanted to fly. Every day Leonardo would smile confidently at his little wings and encourage them to grow. He'd stand on one leg at the top of the cliff, letting the wind brush through his feathers and imagine that he was flying over the ocean. The other penguins laughed at Leonardo. Whoever heard of a flying penguin? But Leonardo was no discouraged. Day after day, he practiced flying. He hopped and flapped and hopped and flapped, but it was no use. he never left the ground. How Leonardo, with some encouragement from a friendly albatross, proves that perseverance pays off, and even the most impossible dreams can come true, is an uplifting story that will send young spirits soaring. |

When Leonardo is called upon by a friend to talk a tech genius out of making public a secret new innovation-and the tech genius ends up jumping out of the window-Leonardo's life takes flight on a roller-coaster of disaster. Making a darkly hilarious debut, Jonathan Canter gleefully builds a small Massachusetts town filled with the interrelated lives of fantastically neurotic characters-and at their center, poor, "lucky" Leonardo. Leonardo on Flight $22.48 A genius for all time, Leonardo da Vinci contributed artistic masterpieces, spectacular inventions, and scientific research to Western culture. This beautifully illustrated volume reconstructs the origin of one of the most fascinating and fundamental aspects of Leonardo's life and work: his dream of human flight. With masterfully reproduced drawings from his vast library of manuscripts and folios -- especially from the Codex "On the Flight of Birds" and the Codex "Atlanticus" -- this book traces the development of Leonardo's theories and experiments over time. Detailed descriptions and unique readings of these exquisite sketches, letters, and notes reveal the inner workings of the artist-scientist. Leonardo on Flight begins with the drawings from his years in Florence making theatrical devices (ingegni) and then moves to the marvelous flying machine -- the ornithopter -- constructed in Milan during the same period he completed The Last Supper and the equestrian statue Francesco Sforza for Duke Ludovic il Moro. After 1500, Leonardo's work returned to nature and focused on the flight of birds, the dynamic potential of the human body, and the physics of wind. The final chapter of the book considers the last years of Leonardo's life and his escape into theory and whimsical experiments such as flying wax figurines, inflated bullocks' intestines, and automatons. |

The Science of Leonardo $19.98 Leonardo da Vinci’s pioneering scientific work was virtually unknown during his lifetime. Now acclaimed scientist and bestselling author Fritjof Capra reveals that Leonardo was in many ways the unacknowledged “father of modern science.” Drawing on an examination of over 6,000 pages of Leonardo’s surviving notebooks, Capra explains that Leonardo approached scientific knowledge with the eyes of an artist. Through his studies of living and nonliving forms, from architecture and human anatomy to the turbulence of water and the growth patterns of grasses, he pioneered the empirical, systematic approach to the observation of nature—what is now known as the scientific method. Leonardo's scientific explorations were extraordinarily wide-ranging. He studied the flight patterns of birds to create some of the first human flying machines. Using his understanding of weights and levers and trajectories and forces, he designed military weapons and defenses, and was in fact regarded as one of the foremost military engineers of his era. He studied optics, the nature of light, and the workings of the human heart and circulatory system. Because of his vast knowledge of hydraulics, he was hired to create designs for rebuilding the infrastructure of Milan and the plain of Lombardy, employing the very principles still used by city planners today. He was a mechanical genius, and yet his worldview was not mechanistic but organic and ecological. This is why, in Capra's view, Leonardo's science—centuries ahead of his time in a host of fields—is eminently relevant to our time.Enhanced with fifty beautiful sepia-toned illustrations, The Science of Leonardo is a fresh and important portrait of a colossal figure in the world of science and the arts. |

Leonardo da Vinci, The Treasures of $31.98 Leonardo da Vinci is often considered the master of the Renaissance and hailed as a genius ahead of his time. Most famous for such works as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, Leonardo da Vinci was more than a painter of extraordinary skill. In fact, he frequently regarded himself principally as a civil and military engineer. The Treasures of Leonardo da Vinci tells the story of this artist/engineer's life and times, and looks at the major themes that dominated Leonardo's work. Beautifully illustrated, the book also contains 30 items of rare memorabilia, including: the record of Leonardo's birth made by his grandfather in 1452 Leonardo's copy of his letter to Ludovico Sforza, the Duke of Milan from 1483 the passport given to Leonardo by Cesare Borgia Leonardo's map of Imola an extract from Leonardo's notes on machines that polish mirrors pages from Antonio de Beatis's diary mentioning the Mona Lisa The Treasures of Leonardo da Vinci is a unique guide to this most gifted of men. |

Leonardo's Shadow $3.48 Milan, 1497. The height of the Renaissance. And for Giacomo, servant of the famous painter Leonardo da Vinci, it's the most difficult time of all. His Master has been working on the Last Supper, his greatest painting ever, for nearly two years. But has he finished it? He's barely started! The all-powerful Duke of Milan is demanding that it be completed by the time the Pope visits at Easter. And Giacomo knows that if Leonardo doesn't pick up his pace, the Duke may invite a young genius -- Michelangelo -- to finish the painting instead. Which means that Leonardo won't be paid, which means that Milan's shopkeepers (to whom he owes massive amounts) will take drastic measures against him. It's all down to Giacomo, and whether he can come up with a brilliant solution. And if he does, will his Master go for it? After all, Leonardo still doesn't seem to trust him. He refuses to teach Giacomo how to paint; he won't help him find his parents; nor will he discuss the significance of the medallion, ring, and cross that Giacomo was carrying when Leonardo found him. But with the secret arrival of a powerful stranger, Giacomo is about to discover much more than the answers he has been looking for. And he will also receive an invitation to help arrange a meeting that could change his life. . . and the future course of history. With more twists and turns than a spiral staircase, this thriller is as unique as its two heroes -- the most celebrated artist who ever lived, and a young man without a past, who will stop at nothing to find the truth about his life. |

Leonardo's Horse $13.48 On May 2, 1519 at the Clos Luc in Amboise, Leonardo is dying. He no longer cares about art or science. He wants only to answer a simple question about his life: why did he abandon his colossal equestrian statue in Milan? Meanwhile, R-, a 20th century historian writing a novel about Leonardo, meditates upon the same question in the midst of an apocalyptic traffic jam, as military helicopters fill the air with tear gas, AIDS demonstrators run amok, and a hospital evacuates its patients onto a nearby sidewalk. Berry's stupendous novel is a fitting response to the close of a century obsessed with the "end of history." This book is a big masterpiece of a kind rarely dared in the contemporary novel. |
