I believe in everything that the "Da Vinci Code", you say?
I want to learn about Christianity, but I just see a movie made by someone who has no idea what religion and another "The Passion," which explores the need for violence occurs in our society, a portrait a delicate subject. Do we need a Zen Buddhist or a Director of Emission-Christian, beauty and depth?
I do not think say a word the'DaVince Code. The mythology is fake counterfeit made by historians, writers and filmmakers in Hollywood. More than the name Leonardo Da Vinci, not a fact, very little about anything to do with the code for the "Da Vinci". Another false appropriation of money in fashion ... not believe anyone.

Hymns: A Portrait of Christ $9.99 It is hard to pinpoint a high moment in career of Steve Green due to the wealth of work he's recorded in his 15-plus years as a contemporary Christian music artist. But you might as well start with his treatment of classic hymns on Hymns: A Portrait of Christ. Green enlivens "Holy, Holy, Holy" with Celtic flair and "How Great Thou Art" with a mighty horn and pipe-organ introduction. The charismati... |

Portrait of Jesus? $15.98 Potrait of Jesus? is a comprehensive and up-to-the-minute account of the Shroud of Turin which, according to legend, was the garment which covered Jesus in the tomb. Frank Tribbe has for many years been a member of the elite group of scientists and researchers studying the Shroud. His book takes all their findings into account to show that, contrary to claims that it is a medieval hoax, the Shroud is an authentic first-century relic from the Near East, probably Palestine. The massive evidence which Tribbe presents from decades of research makes Portrait of Jesus? the best resource for knowledge about the Shroud. This edition contains updates on all findings to the present. “This book pulls together all existing information on the Shroud…It also provides ingenious theories of how the Shroud found its way from the Jerusalem of the Apostles to the France of the 14th century… . The reasonable man may find it harder than he imagines to dismiss the Shroud of Turin after reading this book.” -James C. O’Neill, National Catholic News Service “Comprehensive and accurate information… .” -Rev. Adam J. Otterbein, C.SS.R., S.T.D., President of the Holy Shroud Guild “An invaluable resource for us all… especially important for every thinking Christian.” -Rev. Dr. Edward J. Bauman, Senior Minister of Foundry United Methodist Church, Washington, DC |

PORTRAIT OF A CHAMPION $9.98 Champions are born out of adversities. Our paths through life are laden with one thousand and one adversities. For a champion, every challenge or adversity is an opportunity to make a demand on his God-given abilities and shine. Such was the experience of Daniel. Adversities often seek to answer the questions: . How strong is your faith? . How deep are your resolves? . How firm are your convictions? . To what extent will you go to defend what you believe? More than answering these questions, you will discover in this book how to live a maximised Christian life and walk with God. TAIWO ODUKOYA presides over a ministry that is committed to raising leaders in every sphere of life. He is the founding and Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Lagos, Nigeria - a church with a vision to build the home, and thus the nations and to equip the saints for life and ministry. He is also the President of Discovery for Men and Women, outreach ministries that inspire and motivate men and women to take up their God-ordained positions of leadership and influence in the home and in the society. He is aired on several radio stations across Nigeria and writes a weekly leadership column in a foremost national newspaper. A petroleum engineer by training, he has received many awards in recognition of his unique leadership abilities. He was married to 'Bimbo Odukoya, who was called to glory in December 2005, and is blessed with three wonderful children. |

Portrait of a Priestess $31.98 In this sumptuously illustrated book, Joan Breton Connelly gives us the first comprehensive cultural history of priestesses in the ancient Greek world. Connelly presents the fullest and most vivid picture yet of how priestesses lived and worked, from the most famous and sacred of them--the Delphic Oracle and the priestess of Athena Polias--to basket bearers and handmaidens. Along the way, she challenges long-held beliefs to show that priestesses played far more significant public roles in ancient Greece than previously acknowledged.Connelly builds this history through a pioneering examination of archaeological evidence in the broader context of literary sources, inscriptions, sculpture, and vase painting. Ranging from southern Italy to Asia Minor, and from the late Bronze Age to the fifth century A.D., she brings the priestesses to life--their social origins, how they progressed through many sacred roles on the path to priesthood, and even how they dressed. She sheds light on the rituals they performed, the political power they wielded, their systems of patronage and compensation, and how they were honored, including in death. Connelly shows that understanding the complexity of priestesses' lives requires us to look past the simple lines we draw today between public and private, sacred and secular. The remarkable picture that emerges reveals that women in religious office were not as secluded and marginalized as we have thought--that religious office was one arena in ancient Greece where women enjoyed privileges and authority comparable to that of men. Connelly concludes by examining women's roles in early Christianity, taking on the larger issue of the exclusion of women from the Christian priesthood. |

Christian Schad and the Neue Sachlichkeit $45.98 The first collection in English to give a full accounting of Schad's peculiar genius. The 1920s German art movement "New Objectivity" (Neue Sachlichkeit) created a stark and indelible portrait of German society. Along with Max Beckmann, Otto Dix, and George Grosz, artist Christian Schad is central to any appreciation of this fascinating period in both art and history. Schad is a contradictory character. For all his icy-cool realism, Schad's mesmerizing paintings are characterized by an intense engagement with his models. While he is best known as a realist, he is also credited by the Dadaists as the inventor of abstract photograms, or "Schadographs." Published in conjunction with an exhbition at the Neue Galerie in New York, Christian Schad and the Neue Sachlichkeit includes over 140 full-color reproductions of Schad's paintings, drawings, woodcuts and "Schadographs." |

The Annotated Hans Christian Andersen $25.48 A richly entertaining and informative collection of Hans Christian Andersen's stories, annotated by one of America's leading folklore scholars. In her most ambitious annotated work to date, Maria Tatar celebrates the stories told by Denmark's "perfect wizard" and re-envisions Hans Christian Andersen as a writer who casts his spell on both children and adults. Andersen's most beloved tales, such as "The Emperor's New Clothes," "The Ugly Duckling," and "The Little Mermaid," are now joined by "The Shadow" and "Story of a Mother," mature stories that reveal his literary range and depth. Tatar captures the tales' unrivaled dramatic and visual power, showing exactly how Andersen became one of the world's ten most translated authors, along with Shakespeare, Dickens, and Marx. Lushly illustrated with more than one hundred fifty rare images, many in full color, by artists such as Arthur Rackham and Edmund Dulac, The Annotated Hans Christian Andersen will captivate readers with annotations that explore the rich social and cultural dimensions of the nineteenth century and construct a compelling portrait of a writer whose stories still fascinate us today. 146 illustrations including color. |

Martha's Voice - Portrait in Words $28.48 For more than two thousand years, humanity has been intentionally misled. Martha's Voice provides absorbing new insight into an important time in history whilst reflecting that the successful propagation of the Christian religion is not the result of what one particular man tried to achieve; rather, it is in spite of what he tried to achieve. The early formation of the world's most successful and wealthy institution is exposed from a perspective never previously envisaged and from a source almost too impossible to conceive. Martha's Voice answers age-old questions and, by so doing, answers many of today's most basic questions about life. Whilst this entirely new perspective on the most famous story of all time flies in the face of everything we have previously been led to believe, it establishes hope, freedom from fear, and insightful philosophies for a more fulfilled life. In providing knowledge about our past, we can understand our present and begin to create our future. Martha's Voice is a gift. |

Portrait $17.98 One of the best young singers to emerge from Greece, Melina Kana is also one of the most adventurous, and this compilation serves her well, showing several facets of her career, from being at the heart of the new Thessalonika sound of the '90s on "Alkoolika Stichakia" and "Na Valo Ta Metaksota" to working with Turkmenistani band Ashkabat on an album, three tracks of which appear here, with the fusion working better than anyone could expect. There's also her tribute to the great Lebanese singer, "Fairuz," which brings a modern sensibility to acoustic folk songs while leaving the melodic side intact. Most interesting, however, are her collaborations with innovative composer Stamos Semsis, which can range from lush synthesizer settings to unaccompanied vocal. Her low, almost husky voice is perfectly suited to the material, and never more so than on "Milo Gia Sena," from her pairing with Ashkabat, when the percussion, bagpipe, accordion, and fiddle create a rhythmic, stirring backdrop for her tones. The final five tracks have been culled from her guest singer appearances and as such don't show her talents as brightly, but still mark her as someone whose work deserves much greater attention and whose place as a shining star among Greek vocalists is already assured. ~ Chris Nickson, All Music Guide |

Constantine and the Christian Empire (Roman Imperial Biographies) $18.98 This detailed biographical narrative reveals how the greatest emperor of Late Antiquity transformed Christianity from a persecuted minority cult into an established majority religion, and changed the pagan state of classical Rome into the Christian empire of the Byzantine era. Assessed within the context of the third century crisis and fourth century revival of the Roman Empire, Constantine emerges as one the most astute political leaders, great field commanders, sincere religious reformers and extensive imperial builders among the long line of Roman Emperors. The author's comprehensive knowledge of the literary sources, and his extensive research into the material remains of Constantine's reign, mean this volume provides a more rounded and accurate portrait of the emperor than ever before. Extensively illustrated and fully documented, Constantine and the Christian Empire is a landmark publication in Roman imperial, early Christian and Byzantine imperial history. |
